📜 Chapters 4–6
⚠️ Spoilers ahead — summer and autumn of Year 1: coven training, festivals, and the League’s rising voice.
The middle seasons of the first year are the long, warm rows of this story: quest after quest of coven training and town life, with something colder germinating underneath. The game doesn’t number these as formal chapters, so this page presses the whole summer-and-autumn stretch into one spread.
Summer: Apprentice Work
With Hazel gone and the summer ritual cast, the coven takes Tara firmly under its wing. The quests in this stretch are largely magical tasks for coven members — each one deepens a bond and unlocks another page of your grimoire:
- Incantation practice continues under the Farseer (the Incantation Vexation series, if you haven’t finished it).
- Cauldron work picks up — keep ingredients stocked; see Potions.
- Coven members reveal more of themselves with every task. You’ll come to know the people behind several masks, and to understand how much of Fairhaven’s ordinary life the coven quietly keeps in bloom.
Between rites, it’s still a farm: summer crops, bees and orchards, and the season’s festivals and recipes all want your attention. The summer’s centerpiece arrives by post — a letter announcing the Fairhaven Summer Festival and starting a 15-day countdown of town-wide preparations, capped by the crowning of the year’s Summertide Star. Every season brings its own festival days and seasonal dishes — don’t let the witching crowd them out.
🌻 Field note: the seasons wait for you. Until you brew and cast the next ritual, summer simply continues — so linger as long as your ledger likes.
Autumn: The League Grows Bolder
As the year turns, the story’s other strand thickens. Cameron Conner and his League of the Conscious Mind grow louder — sermons about unseen influences, warnings about hidden corruption on the island, and a widening wariness among the townsfolk. The quests in this stretch put Tara squarely in the middle: a public citizen by day, a masked witch by night, watching neighbours she loves drift toward suspicion of the very coven she belongs to.
Play both sides of your life deliberately:
| Tend | How |
|---|---|
| The coven | Keep completing magical tasks; every spell earned now matters later |
| The town | Keep friendships warm — including with League folk. Cameron himself is a neighbour, not a cartoon |
| The farm | Autumn crops and preserves fund everything; see Crops |
Autumn also crowds the town calendar with distinctly unmagical drama — an election stirs Town Hall, and a wedding brings out everyone’s good coats. Fairhaven’s ordinary life doesn’t pause for witchcraft, which is rather the point of the whole story.
The Turning Toward Winter
Autumn closes as every season must — by your own hand. The High Priestess sets Season’s Greetings: craft a Winter Ritual Incantation and a Spirit Flame for the rite that brings the snow. Stock firewood and finish your harvest first.
And note, in your steadiest hand: by now there are signs that something genuinely is wrong on the island — odd disturbances the coven cannot fully explain. The League blames witches. The witches suspect something older and angrier. Winter will tell.
Two gardens, one gardener. I water them both and hope neither notices the other. 🌙
