💛 Romance Guide
Some friendships, given enough sun and patience, flower into something rarer. Eight of Fairhaven’s residents can be courted, partnered, and — should the season be right — married. This page is your pollination chart: who’s eligible, how affection grows, and what commitment looks like on a small island where everyone knows everyone.
New to tending relationships at all? Root yourself in the Friendship Guide first — romance grows from the same soil.
The Eight Eligible Residents
| Candidate | Notes from the field |
|---|---|
| Kai Hoapili | The friendly merchant. Came to the island after a surfing accident and Amira’s expert care; stayed for the rest. |
| Kim Izumi | 28, non-binary (they/them), the town butcher and one of Fairhaven’s newest residents. |
| Amira Syed | The doctor — flirty, sharp, and a member of the coven besides. |
| Cameron Conner | 34, former child actor, now the fervent leader of the League of the Conscious Mind. A thornier courtship than most. |
| Damon Mthembu-Haas | 24, keeper of Fairhaven’s bar, originally from Johannesburg. |
| Giva Joshi | The island’s meteorologist — smart, a little awkward, sweetly shy. Slow to open — worth the patience. |
| Eury Sinclair | Arrives in Year 2 to open the hair salon. Late bloomers are still bloomers. |
| Westley | Bookseller of Ravenwood Hollow, raised in Alaska. See the spoiler pressing below. |
⚠️ Spoilers — Ravenwood Hollow. Westley only becomes available once you’ve found your way into Ravenwood Hollow, the hidden community added in a major update — and he is a werewolf, come to the island seeking a cure. Court him after the reveal, not before you’ve had it.
Who isn’t eligible — and why
Notice the pattern in the table above: every candidate is single, with no relatives living on the island. That’s the game’s quiet rule of thumb. It’s why Angus and Francis (happily coupled), Lina and Parker (married, with twins), and Violet Miranda — the flower shop’s owner, who shares a surname with another islander — tend their own gardens without you. If someone has family roots in Fairhaven or a partner already, they’re flora to admire, not to pick.
yes, everyone asks about violet. no, the florist is not on the menu ❀
Inclusive by Design
All eight options are available to every player, regardless of Tara’s gender presentation or your choices — there are no locked paths and no penalties. Fairhaven’s romances span genders and identities as a matter of course (Kim is non-binary, and the island doesn’t blink), and the wider cast includes married couples of all kinds, Angus and Francis among them. Love here is treated like weather: it simply happens, and everyone carries on.
How Courtship Grows
Hearts and cutscenes
Each candidate has an affection meter measured in hearts, up to six. Raise it the usual ways — daily talk, well-chosen gifts (see Gift Preferences), and their personal quests. Each new heart you fill unlocks a new cutscene, advancing your relationship to its next stage. The stages, in bloom order:
- First date — once affection is high enough, the candidate offers a quest that serves as your first date and formally opens the romance path.
- Dating — after the first date, you may continue seeing them (or gently decline).
- Partnership — keep filling hearts and the relationship deepens into a committed partnership.
- Engagement — a ring exchange seals the promise.
- Marriage — with the ring handled and affection at six hearts, a final cutscene arrives in which you and your beloved agree to marry.
Exclusivity — Fairhaven asks you to commit
This island does not do love triangles. Once you begin dating someone, no one else is romanceable. If your heart truly changes, you must break up with your current partner — dating or married — before courting another. Flirt freely while unattached; commit deliberately.
A small mercy for the indecisive: nothing stops you raising friendship with all eight before choosing. The hearts will be waiting when you decide.
Practical Courtship Tips
- Court through the stomach. Every candidate keeps favorite dishes; a favorite gift moves hearts far faster than small talk. The cooking pot is the most romantic station on your farm.
- Chase their quests. Romance cutscenes ride on quest completion — when your intended asks for something, drop the hoe and go.
- Don’t neglect the main story. Story progress and new areas (Ravenwood Hollow especially) gate parts of the roster — see the Story Overview.
- Marrying Eury or Westley is a long game. One arrives in Year 2, the other behind a hidden community. If you’ve fallen for a latecomer, spend Year 1 building friendships and fortune.
pick the one whose 2am conversation you’d cross the island for — the hearts are just paperwork ❀
