The Fairhaven Field Guide

📋 Recommended Farm Plans

The rest of the Guide tells you what’s true: sell prices, growth times, who likes what. This page tells you what to do about it. Each plan below is a complete routine built from those facts: what to plant, what to build, and the daily loop that ties them together.

Pick the plan that matches how you like to play. You don’t need to follow any of them perfectly. Fairhaven doesn’t punish a detour.

Plan Best for Main earner
First Season Brand-new farmers Wheat, then the basics
Cloth Mill Players who want the most coins Cotton → cloth (~39 coins/day)
Long Fennel Winter Saving for big projects Fennel (24.2 coins/day)
Orchard & Apiary Short play sessions, low effort Fruit trees, honey, and beeswax
Courtship Kitchen Romance and friendship Cooked favorites
Completionist Angler Filling the compendium Every fish, every location

đŸŒ± The First Season

Best for: your first spring on the island, before the coven has asked much of you.

The idea: earn steady coin from the best spring crop, and spend it on things that keep paying you back, not on things you’ll outgrow.

  1. Plant wheat. It’s the best spring earner at 20.8 coins per day (Crop Guide).
  2. Build a beehive early. It costs only 10 wood and 50 coins. Plant flowers nearby and leave them unpicked, since blooming flowers feed the bees (Bees & Orchards).
  3. Buy a fruit tree the first time you have 125 spare coins. Trees only mature while they’re in the ground, so the earlier the better.
  4. Fish the river on your own farm in the gaps. It costs no travel time, and fish are good for cooking, selling, and gifts (Fishing).
  5. Upgrade to copper tools first. They take 3 copper ingots, 5 wood, and 250 coins, and they break every rock and boulder. Tool upgrades are among the best investments in the game because every swing costs less energy (The Mine).

Don’t: cast the season ritual with crops still in the ground. Out-of-season crops wilt the moment the season turns (Energy, Time & Seasons).

a first season is for roots, not riches đŸŒ±

đŸ§” The Cloth Mill

Best for: the player who wants the most coins per day the island can give.

The idea: cotton is the best earner in the game, but only after you weave it into cloth. So treat it like a small business, not a crop.

  1. Build a loom before summer starts (Crafting Stations). You can’t sell raw cotton at all.
  2. Buy cotton seeds from Thomas at his farm, not the general store.
  3. Give cotton most of your summer beds. Woven into cloth, it works out to about 39 coins per day of growing time (Artisan Goods).
  4. Fill the rest with strawberries. At 28.7 coins per day, they’re the best crop you can sell straight from the field.
  5. Sell cloth at Kai’s stall (Shops).
  6. Stay in summer as long as the loom keeps paying. The season only changes when you cast the ritual.

Why it works: most crops earn once, at harvest. Cloth earns at harvest and again at the loom, and processing always adds value on this island.

❄ The Long Fennel Winter

Best for: saving up for something big, such as the greenhouse, tool upgrades, or livestock.

The idea: fennel is the best crop of both cold seasons, so plant it in fall, keep planting it in winter, and don’t hurry the calendar.

  1. Plant fennel wall to wall in fall (24.2 coins per day).
  2. Harvest everything, cast the ritual, and plant fennel again in winter.
  3. Linger. Nothing forces the next season. Replant after each harvest and let the coins build.
  4. Put the savings toward the greenhouse. Thomas’s Greenhouse Affection quest asks for 50 wood, 20 iron ingots, 18 glass, and 5,000 coins, delivered to Parker (Crop Guide). You’ll need a glassworks first, so start stockpiling glass early.
  5. Once the greenhouse stands, Lina sells off-season seeds. Off-season produce sells at a premium, and greenhouse fennel climbs to about 29.5 coins per day (Money-Making).

Meanwhile: winter is a good time to lean on the mine. Gems sell at The Jewelry Box for 50 to 150 coins apiece (The Mine).

don’t cast the ritual while the fennel’s still paying rent ❀

🍯 The Orchard & Apiary

Best for: short play sessions, or anyone who’d rather spend the day on story and friends than on watering cans.

The idea: build income that runs in the background. Fruit trees fruit in every season, forever, and never need watering. Beehives turn unpicked flowers into honey and beeswax.

  1. Buy fruit trees from Kai’s Treasures (125 coins each) whenever you can. Apple and mulberry trees earn about 22 coins per day, all year (Bees & Orchards).
  2. Place several beehives (10 wood and 50 coins each).
  3. Plant flowers from Violet’s Violets near the hives, and never pick them. Sunflowers are the best summer choice.
  4. Process the harvest. Fruit becomes wine and cider in a fermentation barrel, and beeswax becomes candles (Artisan Goods).
  5. Keep a reserve of honey and fruit for cooking and gifts before you sell the rest.

Why it works: the season ritual can’t touch a tree, and a hive doesn’t need you to do anything. This plan grows even on days you barely farm.

💝 The Courtship Kitchen

Best for: romance, friendship milestones, and anyone racing a story threshold.

The idea: every resident’s favorites are dishes, so your kitchen is the best gift shop on the island.

  1. Learn recipes early and often (Cooking). Each new recipe opens up more of the silhouettes in residents’ profiles.
  2. Reveal favorites with the crystal ball instead of guessing (Spells & Rituals).
  3. Talk and gift every day. The two together build relationships faster than either alone (Friendship).
  4. Save first-time favorites for the person you’re courting. The first time you give a favorite, it’s the largest boost gifting offers. After that it’s only a little better than an ordinary gift (Gift Preferences).
  5. Keep coffee on hand for everyone else. It’s cheap and welcome nearly everywhere.
  6. Carry a stack of cooked dishes on your rounds and gift as you pass people (Shops).

When you’re ready to choose, the Romance Guide covers every romanceable resident.

🎣 The Completionist Angler

Best for: filling the fish compendium without wasting days.

The idea: in Fairhaven, only location and bait decide what bites. No season, weather, or time of day matters, so a methodical route beats luck.

  1. Meet Bruno Soft in town to unlock fishing. He hands you a rod and your first baits.
  2. Carry all three baits: worms, crickets, and chub (Fishing).
  3. Work one location at a time, bait by bait. Stay until a spot stops producing anything new, then move on.
  4. Fish each new area as soon as it opens, including the Mountain, the Gloaming, and Mine level 20. New water means new entries.
  5. Pack a snack. Fishing spends energy like any other chore, and cooked food keeps the afternoon going.
  6. Use the Interactive Island Map to see which fish live where.

Keep, don’t sell, your first catch of each rare fish until you’ve checked whether a quest or a resident wants it (Gift Preferences).

Mixing plans

Most players end up running two plans at once, and that’s the point. The Orchard & Apiary pairs with anything, because it runs in the background. The Cloth Mill and the Long Fennel Winter hand off to each other as the seasons turn. The Courtship Kitchen is what you do with the coins.

sign-off tip: choose one plan for the beds and one for the heart — Fairhaven rewards both 🌿
