A gift, properly chosen, is friendship in concentrate. Fairhaven’s residents all appreciate a token from your pocket — but each keeps a short, secret list of favorites that work on the heart like fertilizer works on a seedling. This page covers the gifting mechanics and the full per-resident favorites almanac, cross-checked against the community’s field records — with the few still-unconfirmed entries honestly marked rather than invented.

How Gifting Works

Walk up to any resident and select the gift icon to offer an item from your inventory. That’s the whole ritual — no wrapping paper required. What matters is what you hand over:

The rhythm that falls out of these rules: give each favorite once for the big bloom, then rotate through their other favorites, padding the days between with ordinary gifts and conversation.

Discovering favorites

Each resident’s favorites — three to five foods apiece, depending on the resident — begin as hidden silhouettes in their profile. You can uncover them two ways:

1. Guess. Squint at the silhouette, consult your pantry, and hand over your best hypothesis. A correct guess reveals the entry (and banks that first-time boost).
2. Scry. A witch has advantages: the crystal ball can reveal a character’s favorite foods outright, sparing you the trial and error — and from your sanctum it can also hint at your farm animals’ favorites. See Spells & Rituals for your scrying options.

Cook, don’t just forage

The favorites are dishes, which makes your kitchen the island’s most effective gift shop. Every recipe you learn widens the set of silhouettes you can match — another reason to keep the cooking pot busy and your artisan stations humming.

Even the livestock have opinions: as of update 1.5, each farm animal has its own randomly assigned favorite food, unique to that individual. Your cows are as particular as your neighbors. See Animals.

Verified General Guidance

Alongside the almanac below, these principles will carry you far:

• Gift daily, talk daily. Both raise relationship values; together they compound. No gift is ever rejected outright, so an imperfect gift still beats an empty hand.
• Coffee is the universal fallback. Cheap to brew and beloved island-wide — a fresh cup lands nearly as well as a repeated favorite when your pantry has nothing better to offer.
• Favorites are for milestones. Save newly revealed favorites for the residents you’re actively courting or racing toward a story threshold with — that first-time boost is the largest single gain gifting offers.
• Romance runs on recipes. All the romanceable residents keep favorite dishes they adore; cooking your intended’s favorites is the fastest honest way to fill hearts (see the Romance Guide).
• Match gifts to your shopping route. You’ll pass most residents on your daily rounds anyway (Shops); carry a stack of cooked dishes and gift as you go.
