๐Ÿ“œ Chapter 2: The Family Secret

โš ๏ธ Spoilers ahead โ€” this chapter reveals the coven and Hazelโ€™s true role in it.

Some plants only bloom at night. So it is with Fairhaven: once the pleasantries of arrival are done, the To-Do quests in this stretch begin to show you the island after dark โ€” and what grows there.

Something Stirs on the Island

As you work through the early story quests, the oddities you pencilled into your margins in Chapter 1 begin to connect. Hazel is more than a farmer. The quests here draw Tara โ€” sometimes by invitation, sometimes by stubborn curiosity โ€” toward the truth:

๐Ÿฆ‰ Lore, pressed and labelled: the coven meets in secret and its members guard their identities behind masks. Even people you chat with daily in town may be among them โ€” the shopkeeper who sells you seeds, the doctor who takes your pulse. Their secrecy is not vanity; it is survival.

Why the Masks?

The same quests that reveal the coven also reveal why it hides. Not everyone in Fairhaven would welcome witches among them. A current of suspicion runs through part of the town โ€” youโ€™ll have already met its most polished spokesman, Cameron Conner, and heard murmurs of his League of the Conscious Mind, a fervent spiritual movement with strong opinions about unseen influences.

The game plants this tension gently here and lets it grow all year. Remember it when the weather turns.

Playing This Stretch Well

The quests in this stretch are mostly conversations, discoveries, and small errands rather than hard tasks, so let me offer field advice instead of a checklist:

Do Because
Follow every story quest promptly The coven storyline gates all magic โ€” no spells unlock until youโ€™re through it
Keep farming daily Story scenes cost time, and coin keeps flowing only if crops do
Talk to Hazel often Her scenes in this stretch are among the loveliest in the game
Befriend widely Friendships planted now bloom into character quests later

If youโ€™re curious what awaits on the other side of the veil, the Introduction to Witchcraft covers the craft itself without treading further on the story.

The masks are animals. I have begun guessing who wears which. I am mostly wrong. ๐ŸŒ™
